Los Angeles, CA (January 20, 2026) —The prestigious Society of Camera Operators (SOC) is pleased to announce the nominees for the Camera Operator of the Year awards for the Film and Television categories. Recipients will be honored during the annual SOC Awards ceremony during a live stream on Saturday, March 7, 2026, with in-person Watch Parties hosted in Los Angeles, New York, and Atlanta.
“This year’s honorees represent the very best of our craft, and we are proud to recognize their exceptional contributions to film and television during a time when their work, and their perseverance, matters more than ever,” said Matthew Moriarty, President of the Society of Camera Operators.

New for 2026, the SOC will also announce the Technical Achievement Award during the awards ceremony, which recognizes groundbreaking technology used by camera operators and camera crews during production.
In recognition of the prolonged and devastating slowdown in U.S. production, and the challenges faced by both SOC members and industry partners, the SOC has made the decision to present the 2026 SOC Awards as a virtual live stream. This approach allows the SOC to remain accessible, inclusive, and fiscally responsible, while continuing to uphold the integrity, prestige, and sense of community that define the Awards.
The SOC 2026 Awards will be a live stream on Saturday, March 7, 2026 with in-person Watch Parties held in Los Angeles, CA; New York, NY; and Atlanta, GA. Awards details and past recipients can be found on the Awards site.
Voting is open to the SOC voting membership on Thursday, February 5, 2026.
